Easy Steps To Get Back In Touch With Someone

Everyone has a friend or family member that they want to get back in touch with. If you’re not sure where to start, here are some ideas.

1. Pick up the phone

If you still have this person’s number, pick up the phone. If not, look through old paperwork or social media to find it. Just dial with no fear of what they might say or how they might respond. You can even send a text message instead of calling if that makes you more comfortable!

2. Talk about what you’ve been doing since you last spoke

After you’ve made contact, tell them about what has been going on in your life. Talk about the fun things you’ve experienced and the big changes that have taken place recently. This will encourage them to do the same.

3. Ask questions

Ask questions about their life and how they’ve been doing. Not only are you showing interest, but this is also a polite way to get them to speak more about themselves. Be sure not to steer the conversation toward yourself too often though!

4. Make plans to meet up in person

Once you’ve had your fun catching up on each other’s lives, set a meeting when you can meet up in person! This is when you can talk about the things that are really important. Asking someone for a meeting for coffee or lunch will give both of you the chance to relax and chat in person.

5. No pressure

Just have fun with it. If this turns out to be a disaster, at least you know that you tried. There’s no reason to feel any guilt about constantly trying or putting too much time into making contact. You can’t force someone to like you, and waiting around for them won’t change anything either.

6. Don’t push or force

If they don’t want to talk, let them go. If you wouldn’t like someone to bug you about something like this, neither do they. The more you push, the less they’ll want to talk in the future.

7. Don’t be nosy

Don’t pry too deep into another person’s life, don’t assume that they want you to know everything. If it’s been a while since you’ve spoken, try to stay away from the heavy topics and emotional stuff. Leave that for when you see them in person. You don’t want to make the other person uncomfortable or upset by sharing things that they would rather not talk about with you!

Remember that getting back in touch is about more than just asking them about their life. This is a chance to have fun and talk about things that are important to both of you.
